Most cargo is transported to the hinterland by road. Rising volumes and traffic density are making this increasingly difficult. Rail offers the solution. The Moselle Express takes containers from the Moselle region to the Port of Rotterdam in just 12 hours.
The Moselle area has a blooming industrial sector with companies in the agrofood (wine), healthcare and automotive sectors. This concerns both small companies and multi-nationals. The Moselle Express ensures that their exports from Trier will have been handled in Rotterdam and will be on a vessel on the ocean within 24 hours.
The capacity of the Moselle Express is 100 TEU per journey. The export train leaves for Rotterdam on Tuesdays and Fridays to catch the fixed slots at the terminal. The train returns to Trier on Sundays and Wednesdays. 
The Moselle Express can also transport heavier freight safely. Up to 4 tonnes more freight per container can be loaded in combined transport.
The Moselle Express offers a solution for low freight rates with costs being between 10 and 20 percent lower. Full and empty containers can be stored in the empty depot in Trier until the goods are needed or the container needs to be used for export.
